It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of DOUGLAS REGINALD ATKINSON on February 25th 2022, in his 70th year. We sincerely thank all the incredible doctors and nurses who cared for him after his accident and supported our family during his lengthy stay in critical care at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener.

Doug was predeceased by loving parents Dr. Reginald and Marian Atkinson of Waterloo and wee daughter Fabrian. Cherished father of Courtney (Chris/Phil) of Kingston and Tanner of Kitchener. Grandfather of Arielle, Alexander, Nicolas and Jaxon (all of Kingston) and will be sadly missed by lifelong friend (and former spouse), Deborah Martin of New Dundee. Survived by siblings Donald (Christine), Susan and Peter (Janet), and uncle to many nieces and nephews across Canada and in Australia. He will be sorely missed by special feline friends Emanon and Amora.

Doug was a graduate of W.C.I. Secondary and attended both Wilfred Laurier University and Conestoga College. He was passionately involved in music, having played piano, trumpet, and a variety of guitars. He excelled in detailed, manual drafting; renovations and creative landscaping, and always welcomed challenges to advance various skills. An avid reader of the classics/action/mystery and poetry, Doug was an experienced scouts leader and camp counselor. A hobbyist of scrabble/chess, intricate woodworking, baking, camping/fishing, he was also an excellent swimmer, ping pong wiz and baseball enthusiast. Doug will be remembered as a man rich with gifted gentle patience, who was a helpful and teaching soul, with a heart of gold and an appreciation of animals, nature and the outdoors.

We welcome and look forward to your thoughts, memories and photos for his online memory wall. Recollections of Doug's infamous big afro, eventful moments or quirky stories from his Teenangels band days would be fun to share! Doug loved his rock 'n' roll, classical music, and in his later years, had a special place in his heart for Dixieland jazz.
