Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Mitchell (Davis)

Elizabeth Ann Mitchell (nee Davis) passed peacefully April 18, 2022 at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener.   Liz was born August 28 ,1938 to Dorothy Eileen (Sullivan) and Richard Edward Davis of Mississauga ON.

Left to mourn are her daughter, Cathleen  Adams and partner John Larsen, Stepson Ray Mitchell (Karen) and grandchildren Will and James Toynton, Lee-Ann (Mitchell) Crozier and Jerry Mitchell and great grandchildren Dustin,  Brooke and Hayden.

Predeceased by her parents and son Phillip Alexander Adams.

Liz was a Registered Nurse.  This was one of the first things you would learn on meeting her and she continued to use her nursing lens though her whole life.   Liz worked as a Night Supervisor at the Toronto General Hospital on Graduation from nursing school and then moved to the Mississauga Hospital (now Trillium) where she performed a number of rolls including Head Nurse of OB, Director of Medicine and Surgery then Quality Assurance Manager.  She introduced Quality Management at the Mississauga Hospital and also helped to spread Quality Assurance to other hospitals across the province and country.
Liz was involved with the Port Credit Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and was proud to have helped Veterans to access services from DVA as well as performing rolls within the Branch.

Liz moved to Kitchener Waterloo to be nearer her family and resided at a local retirement home.

The family would like to thank the staff of St Mary’s General and Freeport Hospitals.   Excellent care was provided by the Freeport Palliative nurses, notably when her conditions made this a challenging time for all involved.

Cremation has taken place with no plans for any service as Liz specifically requested.  Her United Church Sunday School Achievement certificate showed perfect attendance throughout her childhood and Liz greatly enjoyed pastoral visits in palliative care.  Whatever spiritual practice you have, please do so with Liz in mind.  If you have none, then go out and hug a tree as she taught her grandsons to do.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to oneROOF Youth Services would be appreciated by the family
