Obituary for Jytte Jorgensen Larsen (Neess)

Jytte Larsen (nee Neess)

Passed away with her sons by her side on February 15, 2022 at St Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener .   Jytte was born January 9, 1938 in Denmark to Hedvig and Alfred Neess.   Loving wife of Willy Larsen, married 64 years.

Left to mourn are her sons , John (Cathleen  Adams) and Allan (Sandra).  Farmor (Grandmother) to Jenna (Cam Emmott) Larsen, Jason (Melissa) Larsen, Will and James Toynton.

Predeceased by her parents and brother Palle (Alex) Neess, Jytte will be missed by family including Ove and Betty Neess, Helle Neess, Preben Neess and many extended family in Denmark.

Following immigration to Canada, Jytte and Willy established themselves as a part of a large group of Danish ex-pats who were involved at Sunset Villa, Danish Club.  With Willy often working away from home as a machinist, marina owner/operator and later as a long distance truck driver, Jytte was left to keep the home running.  She had an extensive list of contacts with whom she kept in touch by regular phone calls and letters.

Jytte was a born hostess serving elaborate multicourse meals on fine Danish china to her many friends at their home in Brampton.  These gatherings often went on into the wee hours.   A fabulous baker, like her father, Jytte made quick friends in 2021 at Chartwell Bankside Apartments with her cookies and cakes as well as her quick and sometimes mischievous humour.  In this past year since relocating from Brampton, her favourite phrase with this group was, “we only have the fun we make.”

The family would like to thank all of the staff at St Mary’s General Hospital.   The nurses and doctors in ER were professional and quickly worked to investigate and treat Jytte.  The whole ER team, notably Barb, the porter and the x-ray and CT staff were compassionate and gentle with her.  The 6th floor staff including Christine and Janelle as well as Dr. Harlick provided excellent palliative care as well as caring for her family as we sat with her.

Cremation has taken place with a Memorial and internment at Sunset Villa Mindepark at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
