Our one and only, beautiful, talented, generous, kind, compassionate, and spiritual mother Touran (Tourandokht) Tamaddon flew from her earthly nest towards her heavenly home on Sunday Jan 9th, 2022. She was an incredible human being, perfect nurturing mother, sacrificing wife, kind sister, devoted daughter, loving grandmother, and extremely beautiful inside and out. She was born to a cultured family in Tehran, Iran in February 1941. She inherited her passion for learning and reading from her father, a successful publisher, and her mother an avid reader. After losing her father at the age of eighteen, she started working to support her mother and five siblings, while pursuing her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature at University of Tehran. Her thesis was a dedication to works of Henry James the famed American novelist. Her eagerness to learn, with her insatiable quest for knowledge resulted in her mastering different languages. She was fluent in Farsi, English, French and Turkish, and could speak Spanish. Proficient in several languages, she worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 1978. In the1980s she started her prolific career as a translator. She translated more than 90 books covering a vast range of subjects including women's health, psychology, religion, spirituality, women’s rights and fiction. Her life could be summarized in two words "sacrifice & service". Her entire life was dedicated to helping family, friends and mostly strangers. She dedicated her time to helping the poor financially through different charities, and providing care and companionship for those in need. Her wish was to leave a living legacy for those seeking knowledge and wisdom through her many translations. Our most sincere gratitude to Jennifer Tesky and her tireless efforts, Luann Lederman, incredible PSWs Marlene, Kathy, Yoland, Kim, Zene, Anita, Joy, Gisela, Nessi, Anna, Tracy and Ela who became part of our family and our incredible Palliative Nurse Terry. They loved our mother and cared for her unconditionally, generously and selflessly until the very end. Special thanks to Marnie Rolt and Karen Bell from Home and Community Care Support Services for their professional and emotional support. We are utterly grateful for Deanne Gillies, and the extraordinary staff at KW Senior Day Program Paula, Ruth, Angela, Sam, Jackie, Gail, Val, Sarah who were our extended family away from home; who went above and beyond in their loving and compassionate care for our mother and her family. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Mirza, the Hospice of Waterloo Region, especially Dr. S. Keleher for his exceptional patience and care during the last few years, to Dr. Maryam Z. Matin mom's niece for her heartwarming and unconditional love and support, to Brane and Shahrzad for their affection and helping hand. Thanks to everyone in mom's extended circle of care who supported us during our long journey. On behalf of her children, Marjan, Yasmine, Ardavan, and her beloved brother and sister, Nassi and Fahimeh, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to family and friends for their kind messages of support and beautiful flowers. Our dear family and friends are invited to attend a virtual memorial and celebration of life, and will be notified of the time and date through this page. "When I die … don't shed any tears don't lament … i'm not leaving i'm arriving at eternal love … when you leave me … don't say goodbye remember a grave is only a curtain for the paradise behind … descending into a grave now watch me rise … when for the last time you close your mouth your words and soul will belong to the world of no place no time" Rumi
