Obituary for Wilma Gertrude Palm (Palm)

Wilma Palm
August 2nd 1943 - June 29 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Sister, Aunt and Friend, Wilma Palm on June 29th 2022.  They say that when the elderly are very sick it can be a blessing in disguise, and maybe that’s true; it doesn't make it any less painful.

To know Wilma was to love her. Wilma loved fiercely and cherished her family more than anything.  She played a massive part in the lives of her siblings; George (Jaquie), Myrna (Erwin), Bob (Margaret), Diane, Bonnie (Ray) and Bill (D. 2003). And cherished every minute she had with her nieces and nephews Cynthia (Les), Michael (Christine), Sandra (Nick), John (Charmaine), Bill (Cathy), Stacey (Kelly), Michelle, Keri (Adam), Shannon, Celina (John) and Dylan (Christina).

Later on in her life, as Great Aunt to Ashley (Jordan), Danielle (Marty), Lindsay (Travis), Hunter, Kyria, Jordan, Zackary, Jake, Brandon, Joshua, Chloe, Emily, Aidan, Sarah, Charles, Neeve, Stella and Tomas, she was known fondly for her hugs and of course, her famous cookies.

Born to George and Edith Palm in Mildmay, Ontario in 1943, Wilma dreamt of far away lands and the wonders of the world. That sense of wonder followed her for her whole life; she frequently traveled through Japan and the far east, procuring rare artifacts from all over the world, seeking knowledge from the far reaches of the globe to tell their stories. We will forever cherish those stories.

Wilma settled in Toronto, Ontario, working as an accountant in the film industry. Wilma loved her industry, educating everyone she met of the wonders of film and TV, and was a proud self proclaimed workaholic, commuting on the TTC to her office up until two weeks before her passing.

As a lover of many things, a contributor to many charities, Wilma was most known for her love and compassion for animals, and cats held a special place in her heart. She was the proud companion to Scruffy (D. 2014) , Pi and Rico who were perhaps the most spoiled feline trio to ever live. And the spoils didn’t stop there. WIlma was known as the kind lady who, everyday, carried an extra bag on her work commute filled with food, treats, blankets and toys for the pets of the homeless community in Toronto and we are certain she loved those animals as much as her own babies.

A giant hole has been left in our hearts. We will miss you beyond words.
Rest in Peace dear Wilma, We love you so.

For those who wish to express sympathy, a contribution to the Toronto Humane Society or the Alliston & District Humane Society would be a heartwarming tribute to Wilma.
